Japan Crushes Tunisia 4-0 in World Cup Group F — Ueda Brace Powers Samurai Blue to Historic Win

Japan delivered a dominant 4-0 victory over Tunisia in a 2026 World Cup Group F match on June 21, with striker Ayase Ueda scoring twice as the Samurai Blue became the first Asian team to score four goals in a single World Cup match, according to ESPN. The result keeps Japan firmly in second place in the group with four points, while Tunisia is eliminated with zero points after two consecutive losses.

The match, played at Estadio Monterrey, marked the 1,000th match in FIFA World Cup history. Japan entered the game needing a win to stay alive in the tournament after a 1-1 draw with Germany in their opener. Tunisia, meanwhile, had lost 2-0 to Belgium and faced elimination with another defeat.

Daichi Kamada opened the scoring in the 4th minute with a clinical finish from inside the box. Ueda doubled the lead in the 31st minute with a powerful header off a corner kick. Junya Ito made it 3-0 in the 69th minute with a composed strike after a counterattack. Ueda completed his brace in the 83rd minute, latching onto a through ball and slotting past the goalkeeper. Japan dominated possession (62%) and outshot Tunisia 14-3, according to The Guardian.

Japan now faces group leaders Belgium in their final group-stage match on June 26. A draw would secure Japan's place in the Round of 16 for the third consecutive World Cup.
